Blitz Torte(A Dessert) - cooking recipe

1/2 c. butter
4 egg yolks
1 c. cake flour
1/2 c. sugar
6 Tbsp. sweet milk
1 tsp. baking powder
4 egg whites
1 c. granulated sugar
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar, then add the four egg yolks all at once.
Sift baking powder and flour and add alternately with the milk to egg and butter mixture.
Pour batter into two 10-inch cake pans, which have been well-greased (can use 9-inch pans, but cake will be thicker).
Beat four egg whites until stiff and add granulated sugar, a little at a time.
Spread this meringue over batter in the cake pans.
Top with slivered almonds.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven.
Place pans on center rack for 35 minutes until meringue is a lovely beige color.
