Old-Fashioned Buttermilk Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. soda
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Combine dry ingredients.
    Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
    Add buttermilk, stirring until well mixed.
    Turn dough out onto floured surface and knead lightly 3 or 4 times.
    Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness; cut into rounds with a 2 1/2-inch cutter.
    Bake at 475\u00b0 for 10 minutes or until golden. Yields 14 biscuits.
