Rega'S Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
4 Tbsp. cocoa
1 c. buttermilk, divided
1 tsp. vanilla
4 Tbsp. red food coloring
Red Velvet Cake Frosting
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Grease and flour 3 (9-inch) cake pans. Cream butter, shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time. Combine flour, soda, salt and cocoa and gradually add to butter mixture, alternately with buttermilk.
Add vanilla and food coloring.
Blend well.
Pour into pans and bake 25 to 30 minutes. Cool and frost.
