Smith Island Pound Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 sticks of butter, softened
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
3 c. sugar
5 eggs, separated
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1/4 c. water
3/4 c. evaporated milk
Preparation

Cream butter, shortening and sugar until fluffy.
Add egg yolks, salt and flavoring.
Mix well.
Add flour alternately with milk and water mixed together, blending well.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Pour into a large greased and floured tube pan and place in cold oven.
Turn oven temperature to 325 degrees. Bake for about 2 hours.
