Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. molasses
1 c. hot water
Preparation

Cream together the shortening and sugar.
Add egg; beat well. Sift together dry ingredients.
Combine molasses and water; add alternately with flour mixture.
Line an 8 x 8 x 2-inch greased pan with greased wax paper.
Pour batter.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 50 to 60 minutes.
Cool 5 minutes; remove from pan.
