Hazel Claus' Candy Nut Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. cold water
    1/2 c. syrup (light or dark)
    2 egg whites
Preparation
    Cook the sugar, syrup and water to firm ball stage.
    Pour 1/2 over egg whites; beat and set in pan of hot water.
    Cook other 1/2 mixture to hard ball stage.
    Pour over first half; beat until smooth.
    Pour in pan; mark into bars when cool.
