Barley Vegetable Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 1/3 c. water
    2 tsp. salt
    2 medium tomatoes, cored and chopped
    1/3 c. barley
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. dried sage, crumbled
    1/4 tsp. dried oregano, crumbled
    1 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 onion, chopped
    1 carrot, thinly sliced
    1 celery stalk, thinly sliced
    2 medium zucchini, sliced small
    1 medium-size yellow squash, sliced
    ground pepper
    Parmesan cheese
Preparation
    Bring 5 cups water to boil with salt in large saucepan.
    Add tomatoes, barley, bay leaf, sage and oregano.
    Reduce heat, cover pan and simmer until barley is tender, 30 minutes.
