Maine Pumpkin Cookies With Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. canned or cooked pumpkin
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. candied fruit
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Preparation

Cream the sugar and shortening together.
Add eggs; beat well. Add pumpkin, then sifted dry ingredients.
Mix well.
Add vanilla, candied fruit and nuts.
Drop by spoonful onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Remove from cookie sheet.
Cool, then frost.
Makes 3 dozen medium size cookies.
