Fudge Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. light cream
    2 sq. chocolate (unsweetened)
    2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
    1/8 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    In heavy saucepan, combine sugar, cream, chocolate, corn syrup and salt.
    Heat slowly, stirring until dissolved.
    Cook to soft ball stage (234\u00b0).
    Do not stir while cooking.
    Remove from heat; add butter.
    Cool to lukewarm by setting in a pan of cold water. Add vanilla; beat until frosting begins to thicken and loses its gloss.
    If necessary, thin with a few drops of cream.
    Spread on yellow cake layers.
