Ingredients

4 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
2/3 c. sour cream *
1 c. molasses
Preparation

Sift together twice the flour, baking soda, spices and salt. Set aside.
Cream shortening and sugar.
Add egg, sour cream and molasses.
Stir in flour mixture and mix until blended.
Turn onto a lightly floured board.
Pat or roll to a sheet about 1/2-inch thick.
Cut with a cookie cutter.
Bake on an ungreased sheet at 350\u00b0 to 375\u00b0 for 10 minutes or until done.
Makes about 3 dozen.
