Vickie'S Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. cooking oil
    3 medium onions, finely chopped
    2 green bell peppers, cored, seeded and finely chopped
    2 stalks celery, finely chopped
    1 Tbsp. garlic powder
    3 lb. ground beef
    2 (14 1/2 oz.) cans tomatoes, chopped
    2 (14 1/2 oz.) cans tomato sauce
    1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
    5 c. water
    1/2 c. chunky salsa (Mexican style)
    1 jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
    6 Tbsp. chili powder
    1 Tbsp. ground cumin
    1 tsp. oregano
    3 tsp. salt
    pepper to taste
Preparation
    Heat oil in heavy 10-quart pot over medium heat.
    Add onions, bell peppers, celery and garlic.
    Cook, stirring until onions are translucent.
    Add the meat to the pot a little at a time, stirring occasionally.
    Cook, stirring occasionally, until the meat is evenly browned.
    Stir in the remaining ingredients.
    Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer, uncovered, for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Stir often.
    Taste and adjust seasonings.
    Serves 6.
