Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 c. solid shortening
1 c. molasses
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. hot coffee
4 c. flour
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 c. raisins
Preparation

Cream together sugar and shortening.
Add molasses.
Dissolve baking soda in hot coffee; add to creamed mixture.
Gradually add flour and spices.
Stir to combine.
Stir in raisins.
Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 350\u00b0.
Sprinkle with sugar when hot out of oven.
Makes 4 to 6 dozen.
