Tomato Catsup Or Chili Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 peck tomatoes
    4 medium onions
    2 green peppers
    1 tsp. pepper
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1 small box mixed spices
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. vinegar
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 tsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Peel tomatoes and onions.
    Remove seed and stems from peppers and grind or chop fine.
    Cook slowly until soft, 30 minutes.
    Add pepper, salt, vinegar, sugar and nutmeg.
    Boil for 2 hours or until thick.
    Then add cornstarch, dissolved in a portion of vinegar.
    Tie mixed spices loosely in cheesecloth, removing all but 1 red pepper.
    Boil 1/2 hour longer and bottle or put in jars and seal.
    For catsup, force this mixture through a fine sieve.
