Fresh Apple Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 c. ground or grated apples
    2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. broken pecan pieces
    1 1/2 tsp. buttermilk
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Cream 1 cup sugar and shortening; add eggs and apples.
    Sift dry ingredients.
    Mix with sugar mixture.
    Add pecans.
    Stir in buttermilk and vanilla.
    Pour into greased 10 x 6 x 3-inch loaf pan.
    Mix 3 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle on top.
    Bake 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
    Yield:
    1 loaf.
