Squash Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 medium squash
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    1 egg
    3/4 c. self-rising cornmeal
    1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 medium onion, chopped
    salt to taste
Preparation
    Boil squash until tender and drain.
    Mash squash; drain again. Mix the remaining ingredients with squash and shape or drop by spoonfuls into hot oil.
    Cook until brown.
