Date-Nut Loaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 c. milk
    1 egg
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. dates
    Cool Whip
Preparation
    Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together.
    Cut in shortening until like coarse meal.
    Make a well and add milk and egg.
    Mix until dampened.
    Add nuts and dates.
    Let stand 20 minutes before baking (in 9 x 5-inch pan).
    When cool, cut in small chunks.
    Put in a bowl and mix with Cool Whip, lightly.
