Cherry Herring - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 qt. fresh sour cherries (do not pit)
2 c. sugar
1 fifth vodka
Preparation

Mix together and put in glass jug.
Shake this mixture every once in a while for a week.
Then let set without stirring until Thanksgiving.
Drain off the liquid and pour into wine bottle.
Eat the cherries.
Save the juice until Christmas.
Serve in tiny wine glasses as an after dinner cordial.
