Refrigerator Spears - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 heads dill
    4 cloves garlic
    1 tsp. alum
    1 large onion, cut into rings
    1 gal. cucumbers, cut into spears
    3 c. water
    1 c. vinegar
    1/4 c. salt
Preparation
    In a 4-quart ice cream bucket, place cucumbers, dill, alum, onion rings and garlic.
    Boil water, vinegar and salt.
    Pour hot solution over first 5 ingredients.
    Put lid on and allow to cool. Refrigerate.
    Eat after 2 days.
