Potted Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 red cabbage
    2 Tbsp. bacon fat
    1 medium onion
    2 green apples
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    salt to taste
    pepper to taste
Preparation
    Cut cabbage up small.
    Place the bacon fat into a pot.
    Chop onion fine.
    Heat pot and when bacon fat is hot, put in the chopped onion.
    Add the finely chopped cabbage and cook for 30 minutes without water.
    Add the apples, which have also been chopped; add the lemon juice and sugar.
    Salt and pepper to taste and allow this to cook for 30 minutes more, turning it over occasionally with a spoon.
    Serve at once.
