Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening or butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. red food color
2 Tbsp. water
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 c. buttermilk
2 to 2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1 to 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0. Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs. Blend. Add food color, water and cocoa. Blend in buttermilk. Add flour and salt gradually. Add vanilla. Beat until mixed well. Mix vinegar and soda together in separate bowl. Add to batter. Stir. (Do not beat the vinegar/soda mixture in with a mixer.) Pour into 2 (9-inch) greased and floured pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes. When cool, frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.
