Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    2 c. sugar
    2 sticks oleo
    5 eggs, separated
    2 c. sifted flour
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 small can coconut
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 325\u00b0.
    Combine buttermilk and soda and let stand a few minutes.
    Cream sugar and oleo; add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Add milk and flour alternately to creamed mixture; stir in vanilla.
    Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry and fold into batter gently.
    Stir in nuts and coconut very gently.
    Spread into 3 layers and bake at 325\u00b0 for 25 minutes or until done (or bake in Bundt pan for about 50 minutes at 325\u00b0).
    Frost cooled cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.
