Ingredients

6 Tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. unsifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. (6 oz.) chocolate chips
1/2 c. shortening
6 Tbsp. granulated sugar
1/4 Tbsp. water
1 egg
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Beat shortening, sugars, vanilla and egg until light and fluffy.
Mix flour with soda and salt.
Blend into shortening mixture.
Stir in nuts and chips.
Drop 2 inches apart from teaspoon onto a greased baking sheet.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
