Ingredients

1 c. flour (pastry)
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. Grape-Nuts flakes, crushed
1 c. oatmeal
Preparation

Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together. Cream shortening, white sugar and brown sugar together.
Stir in egg, vanilla, cereal and oatmeal.
Beat all together.
Drop by teaspoonfuls on buttered cookie sheet.
Flatten with knife or fork dipped in cold water.
For delicate cookies, flatten until almost paper thin.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
Cool.
