Date Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. dates, chopped
    3 tsp. soda
    2 c. boiling water
    2 Tbsp. butter, melted
    2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    4 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Mix first 3 ingredients and let cool, then add remaining ingredients.
    Grease 5 (No. 2) gold-lined cans and fill half full with mixture.
    Bake in a 300\u00b0 oven for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Remove from cans and wrap in foil.
    Keeps a long time; may be frozen, also.
