Gran'S Clamchowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    50 clams (scrubbed good)
    1/2 lb. bacon
    2 large onions
    3 stalks celery
    1 lb. bag carrots
    1 lb. can crushed tomatoes
    pepper, to taste
    ground thyme, to taste
Preparation
    Steam open clams, cool and chop.
    Fry
    bacon until well done. Fry onion and celery until brown.
    Use water from steaming for broth.
    Add some water (to taste) to cut down broth.
    To broth add carrots, celery, onions, tomatoes, crushed bacon and fat, pepper, thyme.
    Bring to boil, then simmer until carrots are soft.
    Then add chopped clams, simmer for 15 minutes longer.
