Peg Martin'S Ginger Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. molasses
    1 egg
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. allspice
    1/4 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Beat sugar, molasses, shortening
    and
    egg until smooth. Mix dry ingredients together and
    add gradually until batter is smooth.
    Chill 4 hours or
    overnight
    (covered).
    Roll
    out
    on floured board and cut into\tdesired
    shapes.
    Place
    on greased cookie sheet.
    Bake 20 minutes
    at\t350\u00b0.
    Cool
    thoroughly and ice with a dab of lemon icing.
