Sour Beet Tire Shreds - cooking recipe

8 medium beets
1 Tbsp. margarine
2 Tbsp. water
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. sugar
salt and pepper
Preparation

Scrub and peel raw beets; shred.
Put all ingredients, except salt and pepper, in heavy saucepan.
Cover and cook over medium heat about 10 minutes, or until beets are tender but still crisp. Stir twice with fork during cooking.
Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Makes 4 servings .
