Boston Baked Beans - cooking recipe

1 lb. navy beans
1 qt. lukewarm water
1 Tbsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
4 Tbsp. molasses
5 c. boiling water
4 slices bacon
Preparation

Wash the beans; soak in the quart of lukewarm water overnight or 6 to 8 hours. Put beans in a saucepan. Add salt, mustard, molasses and 3 cups of the boiling water. Cook until beans reach boiling point, then boil for 3 minutes. Pour into a casserole. Spread bacon on top. Cover and bake at 300\u00b0 for 4 hours, then add remaining 2 cups water and bake 2 hours more. Uncover the last 1/2 hour of baking to brown the top.
