Applesauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 large apples
    1/2 c. apple cider or juice
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/4 c. cinnamon
    1/4 c. nutmeg
    1/4 c. ginger or allspice
Preparation
    Peel and core apples.
    Cut into chunks; put in 3-quart saucepan with apple cider.
    Bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat and cover; simmer 20 minutes or until tender.
    Stir in 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon.
    Cook 2 minutes longer.
    Mash in the pot (or cool and puree in a food processor).
    Cool, then store in clean jars. Refrigerate up to 2 weeks.
