Cabbage And Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. dried white beans
    1 (12 oz.) smoked ham hock
    3 to 5 cloves garlic, crushed
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 tsp. dried rosemary
    3 carrots (1/2-inch thick), sliced
    1/2 green cabbage, shredded (4 c.)
    1 tsp. salt
    3/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Rinse beans.
    Place in large saucepot in cold water to cover. Soak 6 hours.
    Drain.
    In same pot, combine beans, ham hock, garlic, onion, rosemary and 8 cups of water.
    Bring to boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.
    Add remaining ingredients and simmer 1 more hour.
