Ellie'S Date Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 lb. dates, cut fine
1 c. boiling water
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 Tbsp. shortening
2 c. sifted flour
1 scant tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. or more baking powder
1 tsp. salt
Preparation

Pour boiling water over dates and soak.
When cool, beat well. Add sugar, egg and shortening to date mixture.
Add flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Bake in loaf pan at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
