Cross Orchards Old Fashioned Sorghum Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2/3 c. butter or lard
3 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. ginger
1 egg
2 1/2 c. sorghum
1 c. sour milk
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation

Heat butter and sorghum to a boil.
Stir in ginger and spices. Stir in soda.
Take from fire and add sour milk and beaten egg. Beat well.
Add flour sifted three or four times.
Beat again, hard.
Bake in loaf pan 8 x 8-inch or two small square cake pans. Bake at 300\u00b0 for 50 to 60 minutes.
