Southern Raised Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    2 Tbsp. warm water
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 1/2 c. flour
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
Preparation
    Combine yeast and water.
    Let set 5 minutes.
    Then add buttermilk.
    Combine dry ingredients and shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
    Add buttermilk and mix well. Turn onto floured surface and knead 3 or 4 times.
    Roll 1/2-inch thick and cut.
    Place on greased cookie sheet and let rise 1 hour.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
