3 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. softened margarine or butter
2 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. finely chopped nuts
Preparation

Sift flour with baking soda and salt.
Set aside.
In large bowl of electric mixer, on medium speed, beat butter until fluffy. Add sugar; continue beating, and add eggs and vanilla.
On low speed, add half of flour mixture until smooth.
Mix the rest by hand, forming stiff dough.
Add nuts; mix well.
