Crisp Pickle Slices - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced, medium cucumbers
    6 medium, white onions, sliced
    2 green peppers, sliced
    1/3 c. pickling salt
    3 c. vinegar
    3 cloves garlic
    5 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Do not pare cucumbers; slice them thinly.
    Add onions, peppers, whole garlic cloves and salt.
    Cover with cracked ice and mix thoroughly.
    Let stand 3 hours.
    Drain well.
    Combine remaining ingredients and pour over cucumber mixture; heat just to boil.
    Seal in hot, sterilized canning jars.
    Yields 8 pints.
