Rice-Vegetable Meat Casserole(From 1975 Edition) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. hamburger
    1 Tbsp. margarine
    2 c. sliced potatoes
    1/2 c. chopped onions
    1 c. sliced carrots
    1/4 c. chopped green pepper
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    1/2 c. raw rice (white)
    2 c. tomatoes
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    hot water (to cover)
Preparation
    Brown the hamburger in the margarine, breaking it up with a fork to have it in crumbles.
    Then in a greased 2-quart casserole or baking dish, arrange in layers, first the meat layer, then a layer of each of the vegetables, one on top of the other, in the order listed, ending with the hot water.
    Cover and bake in a slow oven at 325\u00b0 for approximately 2 hours.
    Add more water if needed during the cooking period.
