Old-Fashioned Apple Brown Betty - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. (1 qt.) small bread cubes
    1/2 c. (1 stick) butter or margarine, melted
    1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
    1/8 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
    4 c. diced, peeled, tart apples
    1 (9 oz.) container frozen non-dairy whipped topping, thawed
Preparation
    Heat oven to 375\u00b0. Combine bread cubes, melted butter, spices, salt and brown sugar and toss lightly together. Arrange bread mixture in alternate layers with diced apples in 1 1/2-quart buttered baking dish. Bake 50 minutes or until apples are tender and top is browned. Serve warm. Add whipped topping and sprinkle with nutmeg. Makes 4 to 5 servings.
