Easy Easter Strawberry Bars - cooking recipe

3 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 c. margarine or butter
3/4 c. slivered almonds
1 tsp. grated lemon peel
2 eggs, beaten
1 (12 oz.) jar strawberry jam
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
Grease one 15 x 10 x 1/2-inch cookie pan.
Sift together 3 cups flour, baking powder and salt.
Set aside.
In large bowl, cream together sugar and margarine until fluffy.
Add flour mixture to creamed mixture.
Beat on low speed until crumbly.
Add almonds, lemon peel and eggs.
Stir with fork until evenly moistened.
Remove 1 cup dough; set aside.
Pat remaining dough in pan.
Spread jam over dough. Keep 1/2-inch from sides.
Combine remaining 1/4 cup flour with remaining dough; crumble over top.
Bake 22 to 27 minutes.
