7 Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    lettuce
    1 c. finely chopped onions
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 c. diced green pepper
    1 c. peas
    1 c. mayonnaise
    1 c. shredded cheese
    2 Tbsp. brown sugar
    1/2 c. bacon bits
Preparation
    Place torn lettuce as the first layer into a 9 x 13-inch plastic or glass container.
    Add enough lettuce to cover the bottom of the dish.
    Place each vegetable spread evenly over the lettuce, layer by layer.
    Spread the mayonnaise like a thin frosting over the top layer of vegetables.
    Sprinkle the brown sugar over the mayonnaise and add the shredded cheese evenly over the mayonnaise.
    Sprinkle with a generous amount of bacon bits. Refrigerate.
    The lettuce needs to be well drained or this will become very soggy!
