Scotch Shortbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. (2 sticks) butter
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream butter.
    Gradually add sugar; beat until light and fluffy.
    Combine flour and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Blend well.
    Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to 11 x 17-inch rectangle 1/2-inch thick.
    Cut into 1-inch squares or diamonds.
    Transfer to cookie sheets.
    Prick cookies with a fork. Bake in preheated 300\u00b0 oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
    Remove immediately to wire racks to cool.
    Yields about 70.
