Eggnog - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 eggs
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 c. whipping cream
    1 1/2 qt. milk
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Beat egg yolks; add 1 cup sugar gradually.
    Add milk and cook over hot water until thick and coats spoon, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
    Add vanilla.
    Whip cream and egg whites with 1/2 cup sugar separately and fold into cooled milk mixture.
    Add nutmeg to taste.
