Ingredients

2 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. molasses
1 c. cold water
2 tsp. soda (a little more than level dissolved in extra 1/4 c. hot water)
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
5 to 6 c. flour
Preparation

Nutmeats and raisins may be added or you may use both.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes or until done.
