Stately Coconut Layer Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    3 c. sifted cake flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. milk
    1 tsp. almond extract
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    Luscious White Frosting
    1 small fresh coconut, grated
Preparation
    Cream
    shortening;
    gradually
    add sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Combine
    flour,
    baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix
    well
    after each addition.
    Stir in flavorings. Pour batter into 3 greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes or until a wooden toothpick comes out\tclean. Cool
    in
    pans for 10 minutes.
    Remove from pans
    and
    let
    cool completely.
    Spread Lemon-Orange Filling between layers.
    Spread top
    and
    sides
    with
    Luscious White Frosting and sprinkle with coconut.
    Yield: one 3-layer cake.
