Ingredients

1 1/2 c. shortening (use half butter)
1 1/2 c. sugar
4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/3 c. raisins (optional for eyes, nose, mouth)
Preparation

Cream the shortening and vanilla.
Add sugar gradually, creaming.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
Add, alternating with milk.
Chill dough thoroughly.
Roll a portion of dough at a time to 1/4-inch thickness on lightly floured board.
Cut, using 1-pound coffee can.
Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 minutes, or until browned.
Decorate as pumpkins.
