Ginger Applesauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. green apples
    1/4 c. apple cider
    1/3 c. sugar
    1 tsp. minced candied ginger
    1/4 tsp. ground ginger
    1 pt. vanilla ice cream (optional)
Preparation
    Core apples; cut into eighths.
    Combine apples and cider in medium saucepan.
    Cook covered over medium heat until apples are soft, about 20 minutes.
    Press apples through a food mill; discard skin.
    Stir in sugar, candied ginger and ground ginger.
    Serve warm with ice cream or refrigerate until cold and serve as a snack.
