Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick margarine
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. pecans, chopped
    frosting
    1/2 c. Crisco shortening
    5 egg yolks, well beaten
    2 c. flour
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 c. grated coconut
    5 egg whites, well beaten
Preparation
    Cream the margarine, Crisco and sugar.
    Add the egg yolks and mix.
    Sift the flour and soda.
    Mix and add alternately with buttermilk.
    Add vanilla, coconut and pecans.
    Fold in beaten egg whites.
    Bake in three 8 or 9-inch cake pans in a 350\u00b0 oven for 35 minutes.
    Makes 3 layers.
