Ingredients

1 c. brown sugar
1 c. flour
1 c. chopped dates
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. nuts
1 1/4 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1 Tbsp. butter
1/2 c. nuts
Preparation

Make a thin syrup of brown sugar and the water.
Pour into a rectangular baking dish and set aside.
Cream butter and sugar together.
Add milk and mix thoroughly.
Mix the dates and nuts with the flour and baking powder to keep them from settling to the bottom of the pudding.
Add to the sugar, butter and milk mixture. Mix thoroughly and drop by spoonfuls into syrup.
Bake about 1 hour in a moderate oven at 350\u00b0.
