Whitehall Fruit Fritters - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    vegetable oil
    2 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    2 1/3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    1/2 c. milk
    1/3 to 1/2 c. fruit
    powdered sugar
Preparation
    Pour oil into skillet or pan to depth of 1 1/2-inches.
    Heat over medium heat to 350\u00b0.
    Blend dry ingredients.
    Stir in egg, milk and fruit. Beat until batter is smooth and thick. Drop by spoonfuls into oil. Fry until evenly brown, about 3 to 5 minutes. Remove with slotted spoon to drain on paper towel. Dust lightly with powdered sugar.
    Serve immediately.
    Makes 16 to 18 fritters.
