Coconut Cream Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 c. milk
    5 Tbsp. flour or cornstarch
    1 c. fine grated coconut
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    3 eggs, separated
    1 cooked pie shell
Preparation
    Stir all dry ingredients together.
    Add milk; place over a double boiler.
    Cook until mixture heavily coats spoon.
    Add well-beaten egg yolks slowly.
    Beat constantly.
    Cook until mixture is thick and hard to stir.
    Add vanilla and coconut.
    Pour into cooked pie shell.
    Cover with meringue.
    Sprinkle lightly with coconut and brown to a golden brown under a broiler.
