Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp. soda dissolved in 2 tsp. hot water
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 lb. pecans
1 lb. dates
1/2 lb. green pineapple
1/2 lb. white pineapple
1 lb. red cherries
1/2 lb. green cherries
Preparation

After chopping, mix nuts and fruits together with a little flour to separate lumps and make easy to handle.
Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs and beat well, then add flour, sifted with spices alternately with water and soda mixture.
If desired, add 3 tablespoons of sherry to soda mixture.
Combine batter and fruit mixture in large pan using hands to mix.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto well-greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 275\u00b0 for 20 to 30 minutes or until medium brown in color.
